Tony King is an accomplished Composer, Electric, Acoustic (steel, nylon, 6 &12 stringed) Guitarist, Blues Harpist, a fine Bass Player on both fretted & fretless Instruments and is gifted with a smooth, creamy voice.

2006 Tony was the recipients of more awards than any other songwriters in the Australian Songwriters Awards 2006.

In 1984 Tony was asked to play the bass for Madame and the Rent Party, traveling in 1987, to the Edinburgh and other European Jazz Festivals.

In 1986 he formed a trio called The Hat Kats with Kris Ralph and David Bates and decided to make Sydney his base. 

In the same year,Tony wrote a series of How Green Was My Cactus (For which he was nominated for an Awgie for Best Radio Comedy).

In 1988-89 Tony produced an album of his original songs, the result was a beautifully recorded, soulful piece titled, After The Tone.

December 1989 saw the folding of The Hat Kats and the blossoming of Makin Whoopee . Tony and Kris spent most of 1990 on Lindeman Island as the resident duo. 

In 1991 Tony won an ARIA Award for writing the highest selling single, Read My Lips , performed by Melissa Tkautz from

E Street. Tony has also written two other Top Twenty Singles since then, Sexy is the Word and Skin to Skin, and continues to write songs for other artists. 

In 1993 Makin Whoopee wrote and produced a CD titled,Moonlight Cactus which has sold out by word of mouth.

Then in 1994 Moonlight Cactus Music Studio was established 

The Comedy Tracks In The Suburbs and In The Mulga , were both voted Number1 Most popular Song on Ian MacNamarra's Australia All Over Radio Programme for 1995.

1995-96 Tony worked with Phil Scott, George Washington,and co-wrote with Gullifer Smith ( A Touch Of Paradise ).

Is That Jazz was recorded by Kerrie Biddell in 1996, for her album, The Singer. 

In 1997 Tony was chosen to compose the score for the Feature film WANTED. , a Korean /Australian co-production comedy with Park Jung Hoon in the lead role. The Film was the most popular film of 1998 in Korea. 

1997 also saw the completion of Full Of The Moon, Moonlight Cactus' second Album of original songs. Tony and Kris wrote, recorded, mixed and produced all tracks at MOONLIGHT CACTUS STUDIO.

In 1998 BURBANK ANIMATION chose Tony to score their series of six Animated Videos.

Beginning with The Secret of Camelot, Mulan, The Three Little Pigs, The Littlest Mermaid and Moses and The Prince of Egypt.

In 1999 the film score to the Tele -movie Close Contact was composed for Sceentime and Channel 7.

2000 was a year for travelling to Ireland and writing songs with Andrew Strong , the Lead singer from the Commitments.

Andrew is currently performing material from this collaboration on his tour of Europe.

A CD of Makin Whoopee Live sold out of It's first pressing and continues to be popular.

Tony was also a finalist in the Australian Music Awards for a song called"Dance on the Earth"

2001 Finalist in 3 catagories of Australian Songwriting Awards.

2001 and 2002 Tony wrote 4 songs for Andrew Strong's new CD "Gypsy's Kiss" which went into the top 20 in Sweden and Denmark
